Universal Nutrition: So Vinny, how does it feel to finally get your IFBB pro card? Vinny Galanti: It really has not sunk in yet. But I can say that around 3:00 am on sunday after the show i just broke down crying, it was like i was having an out of body experience. I signed my first picture the other day with IFBB PRO next to my name and that was weird... UN: How long have you been attempting to turn pro? VG: Lucky 13...13 times since 1993. I never thought it would happen, but the dream finally came to fruition, and knowing my show will be an elite bunch of guys is very exciting. UN: That’s a long time Vinny. What motivated you to perservere and keep trying? VG: To be honest, you don't just let go of a dream. I just went back to the old school thinking that I had. I didn't worry about winning or who would show up. I just focused on what I only could control, and that was my work ethic, conditioning, and presention. UN: Your condition was awesome at the Master’s Nationals, Vinny. What did you do different this year? VG: Cardio and tons of it. I never cheated on my diet unless it was scheduled cheat day/meal. I was very focused, more than ever. I told myself that I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. No pressure was on me since probably everyone wrote me off as a "has been", the guy who could never close the deal on a pro card. I knew that my condition had to be better than everyone else, and I thought if I could achieve this, with my natural X frame, nobody could touch me. In the end, I received all first place votes in my weight class. UN: What Universal supplements did you use in your preparation for this contest? VG: The basics of course. The same as I've always used. Daily: 2 packs of Animal Pak, 2 Animal Flex, and 3 Animal Test. Also, before and after each training session, I would take a pack of Animal Nitro. These four made a big difference for me. UN: Now that you’ve earned your IFBB pro card, when can we expect to see you in a pro contest? VG: I am going to enjoy the offseason and may make my pro debut at the NY Pro. UN: Vinny, you've been sponsored by Universal Nutrition for over eleven years now.
